The Renault Kwid was launched almost a year back and has been a best-selling hatch since then. ReviewsToday team were amongst first few who reviewed manual variant of Kwid last year. The earlier variant ripped Maruti Suzuki Alto by its killer mini SUV looks and styling. Renault has now launched the Automatic variant of the Kwid which comes with company's New Easy-R AMT System.

1) AMT variant has been designed in-house, though hardware has come from Bosch and the software from FEV.2) The AMT Variant of Renault Kwid is called Easy-R.
3) The major USP on this car is that Renault has introduced rotary dial instead of a gearstick for AMT capabilities– first in class at this segment.
4) The Rotary dial resides on the central console and has three positions - R (reverse), N (neutral), and D (drive).
5) The car does not move in D mode unless you apply pressure on accelerator this implies that you don't have to keep your foot on the brake at say a red light or to stop vehicle from gaining acceleration in this mode.

6) There is a bit of delay in the 1st to 2nd gear change, but the remaining gear changes are extremely suave. Downshifts are even smoother.
7) AMT will come in 1.0 Lts Engine generating 67 bhp and a solid 91 Nm of peak torque.
8) AMT will come in top-end model RXT which will come with the driver-side airbag and touchscreen navigation. Rest of the specification is identical to Kwid Manual Variant.
9) Kwid AMT variant is going to perform well in cities due to crazy traffic and has been designed keep that in mind.
10) Renault Kwid AMT is priced at INR 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and which is INR 30,000 more expensive then the top-end RXT trim on the Kwid 1.0.
