Review: Rumoured first Dual Curved Smartphone in the World - Xiaomi Arch

Introduction

Just a few days back we have informed about aggressive plans of Xiaomi to take on major player like Samsung, Apple, HTC, Moto etc by storm by launching Mi 5 or Mi 4S. Now another leak from Gizmochina.com is making rounds about world’s first dual-edge/ curved display based smartphone something similar to Galaxy Note Edge (which has edge curve only one side) and will be set to be christened as Xiaomi Arch.

Getting to know about Xiaomi Arch

From the GizmoChina it is unclear if the phone is really under development or just a concept smartphone. As per GizmoChina the phone will sport smart curves that shall showcase short cut menu’s much like the Note Edge as well as instant notifications regarding messages & calls etc. The dual curved edge display design, will give the Xiaomi Arch an upper edge by giving more options to sport more notification & fluidic interface.

Build & Quality

The overall design with the ‘Mi’ branding on top and the three capacitive buttons at the bottom is pretty standard in most of Mi Phones from Xiaomi. However, remember that this is just a poster and not the real device.

Caveat: We do not know as of now if this phone will be really be launched in near future. Hence details mentioned above is strictly based on details shared byGizmoChina.

Hence at this point of time it is hard to speculate this phone turning into reality. However what we can assure, the two phones Mi 5 (or Mi 4S) & MiPad 2 are surely going to be showcased at CES 2015 from house of Xiaomi.

For MiPad tablet MiPad 2-

Display: 7.9-inch Retina display with a 2048x1536 pixels resolution
Processor & RAM: Intel chipset (1.8GHz), instead of using an Nvidia Tegra SoC with 2 GB RAM
Camera: Details not shared yet
Storage: 16 GB
OS: MIUI skinned Android 4.4.4 KitKat

General Observation & Verdict

While we believe nothing is impossible and dual-curve are futuristic phone we shall definitely see but seeing Xiaomi launching it will be difficult to ascertain as we all know cutting edge phones like from Samsung comes at a very premium prices and on other hand Xiaomi is known for affordability. However, if Xiaomi can come-up with something like this, it will surely knock off many key players in the market out of competition.
