Review: First Microsoft Branded Lumia 535 with 5inch qHD Display

Introduction

Microsoft took over Nokia’s Devices and Services Division in April this here and after couple of teasers last week it launched the very own Microsoft branded Lumia 535. For those who were hoping to hear high end phone announcement from Microsoft will be heart-broken as this is a budget phone aimed to target mass population of developing nations. The specs are pretty much in line to what we had mentioned in our blog last week.

Getting to know about Microsoft Lumia 535

The Lumia 535 smartphone is smartly priced at Euros 110 (Rs 8,000) and shall be up on sale in select markets later this month. As the leaked specs indicated, the Lumia 535 is undeniably a budget entry smartphone. Microsoft is hoping to seduce buyers to the Lumia 535 with the “5x5x5” smartphone package which includes 5” screen, 5MP front-facing camera, along with five integrated Microsoft services (Skype, Office, Cortana, OneDrive, and OneNote). Surely a different and a nice way to look at things.

Processor: The new Lumia sports a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 processor with RAM: 1GB of RAM
Display: 5” qHD IPS display (960x540)
OS: Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update.
Storage: 8GB of internal storage, and a microSD slot (supports up to 128GB).

Camera: Dual 5MP wide angle cameras, one for the front and one for the rear with LED flash for the rear camera

Connectivity: 802.11n Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0. 
Others: The Lumia 535 will also be available in single- and dual-SIM versions depending on the market.

General Observation & Verdict

The specs of Microsoft™ Lumia 535 is a decent upgrade from the 4" (854x480) Lumia 530 which features the same processor, had just 512MB of RAM. The internal storage for the 535 is also double that of the Lumia 530. We strongly believe that Lumia 535 shall get a lot of traction for price factor, the Microsoft brand and Cloud services. It will be a win-win situation for end consumers.
