'Jarvis' Software Butler by Zuckerberg - Decoded

Introduction

Founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg had earlier revolutionized social media and is now taking artificial intelligence domain by storm with his new – AI instilled software "butler" - named Jarvis. The AI Software is now in service, and even plays with his family.

10 Key Things to Know About Jarvis

a) This is Mark’s personal project for which he had devoted about 100 hours to build this system.

b) Jarvis is inspired by the "Iron Man" film character Jarvis as a virtual assistant to help manage the household.

c) Jarvis is not a physical robot, but an App which Mark Zuckerberg is able to access through his phone or computer to control lights, temperature, music, security, appliances and more.

d) Since this is an AI Smart App, hence the software learns Mark’s tastes and patterns, as well as new words or concepts, and can even entertain his one-year-old daughter.

f) The AI software can determine when a guest at the door is expected and let them into the home, while notifying the family that someone has arrived.

g) Mark plans to text his Jarvis using a 'bot' he’d built for the Facebook Messenger service instead of speaking to it, mostly not to disturb people around him.

h) Future plan for Mark is to explore teaching Jarvis how to learn new skills itself rather than him having to teach it how to perform specific tasks.

i) AI is getting a lot of traction in people's homes, with devices such as Amazon Echo and Google Home speakers which links to personal assistants to answer questions and control connected devices.

10 Reasons to update to iOS 10 Beta on your iPhone/ iPad without Jailbreaking

Introduction:

iOS 10 will be releasing this fall. This does not mean you cannot have your hands on it early. The beta 2 release is out and is quite promising. We have updated 3 devices to iOS 10 and using it for a week now. 5S and iPad mini 4 were running smoothly without any evident bugs. In 5C,  8GB variant, we ran of storage and there was  slight lag while hovering over to the notifications section.

Nonetheless iOS 10 Beta is something worth trying. iOS 10 has a big visual design change as compared to earlier releases.

Also Read: iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus (Leaked Details) - See what to expect

Build & Quality:

1. Apple says they have “redesigned the experience of the lock screen". This a single biggest design change we have seen to the notifications and lock screen.

2. The widgets now appear on the lock screen as cards. You can tap on the widget to open it. iPhone 6s and 6s plus have 3D touch options now.

3. The notification screen just like the lock-screen has a light crisp feel. You can feel the notifications floating rather than it being published on the wall.

4. The Photos app has an overhaul with a Memories section which picks the best of your clicks.

5. The much needed upgrade is in the mail app. The mail's default mode is now oldest on top. Mail chains are easy to handle with mails not merging and cramping. The mail appears as cards and looks quite sleek. You can just swipe each reply to the left to archive it.

6. The clock has a new feature which alerts you when its time for you to sleep and wake up. It monitors your sleep pattern and provides you with analysis.

7. You can just let your feeling show just by tapping back message with the feelings responses. You can send messages in your handwriting and this would not appear as an image to your friend. It would rather animate how you write it on your paper.

8. Tired of looking for an emoji. Just type in the emoji and tap to send it.

9. The music app is redefined and has a quite a fresh and light feel.

10. iOS 10 beta 2 is released for download. This means iOS 10 beta 2 is a version or two behind the main iOS 10 release. This OS is stable and no bugs encountered in this release so far in 5S and iPad Mini 4.

General Observation & Verdict:

iOS 10 is a refreshing OS  and people would love it. Apart from above listed key highlights, there are two underrated features which may turn major USP of iOS 10.

A guide to Data recovery and Formatting memory card

Introduction

With advent of computing devices, mobiles & digital cameras – one word that resonates with each one of them is the Storage by different avatars like Memory cards, SD Cards, Micro SD card, HDD, Data card, Portal HDDs, flash memories, Pen drives etc. It is important to know and understand the basic tenets of Data Storage.

Getting to know about Data Storage

A data storage device primarily a device meant to record (store) information (data). Recording can be accomplished in several forms like using muscle power in form of handwriting or acoustics for photographic recording and till more recently using electromagnetic energy in form of magnetic tapes and CD (optical discs).

The key function of any storage device is three folds – store information, process information or both. For a laymen electronic data storage requires electrical power to store and retrieve that data. In our blog today we are going to discuss Data recovery and formatting memory card.

Build of Memory Card

A memory card is primary an electronic flash memory data storage device used for storing digital information/ data (data such as text, pictures, audio, and video, including softwares & executable files). The most common use of memory card is in  mobile phones, laptop computers, digital cameras, MP3 players and video game consoles, Tablets. Memory cards are pocket-sized, re-recordable, and can retain data without power.

The storage, deletion, processing and recovery of data are the 4 major activities that can be performed on memory cards. Since the time when memory cards were first launched, the accidental deletion of information/data led to eminent need of data recovery process. In current times, there are many software which are available in the market to retrieve any lost data.

Process of Data Recovery

With wide use of Memory card & storage devices, we often mistakenly erase data. At times you hold data for too long on the memory card, the chances of losing the data is very high and can strike anytime. As alluded above there are several software for data recovery. One of the very famous tool that you could use is RECUVA. All you have to do is to download the free version and follow the basic steps outlined – you can visit : http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Alternatively if you are a SanDisk user – you can use their tools RescuePro and RescuePro Deluxe to help you with the data recovery process. The steps are mentioned at http://www.lc-tech.com/pc/sandisk-rescuepro-and-rescuepro-deluxe/

Memory Card Formatting

Ideally when you have tried using the recovery tools and despite of that you are not able to retrieve the data – there is only one option at end – which is to format the memory card so that it can reused.

The process of formatting is relatively simpler if you are using Windows. However one should know the difference between erasing and formatting. While formatting a card erases all the data in the process, it is different than simply selecting all the data and deleting it. Formatting a card sets the file type and optimizes it for use in specific devices. Simply erasing data often leaves fragments behind which can affect the capacity and performance of the card. It is always recommended that one should format new cards and old cards before using it in your devices.

Basic Steps of Formatting Memory Card on a Window’s OS:

Step 1: Back up data/information you want to save. Formatting your memory card will erase all of the data on it.

Step 2: Insert the card into a card reader. Many computers/notebooks, laptops have built-in card readers, while many desktops do not. You also buy USB card readers that can easily be plugged to an available USB port

Step 3: Open up your devices. Press ⊞ Win+E to open Windows Explorer. By default, it should take you to My Computer (Windows XP)/Computer (Windows Vista & 7)/This PC (Windows 8), which displays all of the connected drives. If you don't see this screen, use the navigation frame on the left or the address bar at the top of the window to reach it.
The Windows formatting tool is available on all versions of Windows.

Step 4: Right-click on your card. You should see your memory card listed with the rest of your attached drives. When a memory card is inserted, it acts like any other removable storage device such as a USB drive or portable hard drive.

Word of caution: Make sure you are right-clicking on the correct card, or you may format the wrong drive and lose all the data it contained.

Step 5: Select "Format". This will open the "Format Removable Disk" window. Here you can choose your formatting options before you start the format process.

File system - This is the structure of the memory card's file system. If you are using a 32GB card or smaller, you can use the FAT32 file system to ensure that it works on both Windows and Mac. If the card is 64GB or larger, you will need to format it as exFAT. Windows Vista and XP do not natively support exFAT, but it will work if your system is up to date.

Volume label - This is the name that will appear when the card is inserted. Use this to help you identify what is on the card.

Quick format - Check this box to speed up the formatting process. Almost all users will be able to choose this option without consequences.

Step 6: Start the format. Click the Start button to begin the formatting. Depending on the size of the card, the formatting process may take several moments. Once it is complete, your card is ready to be used to store and transfer files

Conclusion

Data recovery & memory card formatting are very easy techniques in today’s time. In fact modern days smartphones and digi-cameras/SLRs have inbuilt features to format memory cards – all you have to do is to read their user manual carefully.

Review: WhatSim - A free WhatsApp SIM for Worldwide roaming

Introduction

With so many IM Apps & Messengers like Yahoo, Gtalk (now called as Hangouts) the open ended IM apps like Viber, Hike have changed the way we chat real time over our mobile device by simply using our mobile number, but one IM app which truly revolutionized the new mode of communication over SMS, was indeed WhatsApp with about 700 million monthly active users. This led to its acquisition by Facebook which has now world's largest base of active users collectively using IM & Social networking services. To inch further an Italian company had launched a unique product called WhatSim, a WhatsApp–only SIM which allows you to use messaging app for free while travelling across 150 countries, with a nominal subscription plan.
WhatSIM

Getting to know about WhatSIM

Zeromobile, the company founded by Manuel Zanella, alluded that "WhatsApp is the future of mobile communications. Its only "limit" is the data connection especially when you are traveling because the roaming charges are expensive and you can't always find Wi-Fi everywhere and it is not always free. As someone who appreciates and uses WhatsApp, I tried to figure out how to get around this problem. That's why WhatSim is an extraordinary opportunity for WhatsApp."

Also read about : Oppo U3, a 64-bit SOC with Octa Core processor

Build & Quality

The new SIM will come for EUR 10 (Rs. 714) with worldwide shipping of EUR 5 - Rs. 350 approximately) and that will allow an unlimited text messaging for an year. But there is a small caveat. The unlimited messaging (including location updates & contacts)  is free only for text messages and not for sharing multimedia / files etc and consumer will have to buy credits for sharing photos, videos, and voice messages.

To know about how buy and use, it directly depends on where you are travelling.
WhatSim for WhatsApp

Case Study to Use Credits:
With €5 you get 1000 credits that you can use, for instance, to exchange 50 photos or 10 videos in many countries around the world. There are no limits to sharing your position and contacts. This way we guarantee the utmost transparency. Buying a recharge is quick and easy: just go to our website even from your smartphone and soon even from a dedicated app.

General Observation & Verdict

WhatSim is a refreshing innovative product for WhatApps loyalists & in future we would expect many SIM makers to come up with multiple choices of IM apps on single SIM with these creative offers. For now if you want to by this SIM, it is only available the WhatSim website and will available with local distributors in 100 countries soon.
