Review: Asus Fonepad 2015 Edition (FE375CL)

Introduction

Asus has finally launched first its first phone cum tablet of 2015 Fonepad 7 phablet that comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop right out-of-the-box.

As per our information Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CL), is going to be released in consumer market of Taiwan first, for only $250 (approximately Rs. 15,500) however international pricing and availability dates have not been disclosed.

Getting to know about Fonepad 7 (FE375CL)

Fonepad7 2015 Edition is a single sim phablet which comes in similar dimensions to that of existing predecessors. The overall build & material is also similar. The USP of this phone is the OS (latest Android Lollipop) that it runs on with some refined improvement to its hardware specifications.

The phone comes with following specifications:

Display: The phablet sports a 7-inch WXGA (1280x800 pixels) IPS LED-backlit display with up to 10-point multi-touch support

Processor & RAM: Phone is fuelled by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3530 processor clocked at 1.3GHz alongside 2GB of RAM

Storage:  8GB or 16GB of inbuilt storage variants of the Asus Fonepad expandable upto 64 GB via microSD Card

Camera:  5-megapixel autofocus rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies-lovers & photographers

Connectivity: Phone comes with  4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, and Micro-USB connectivity

Battery: A 15Whr battery provides about 12 hours of battery life with heavy usage
Vital Stats: The tablet has dimensions of 108.9x194.3x9.8mm and weighs 299 grams

General Observation & Verdict

No wonder a great phone from Asus, but we believe camera could have been made better. The other features are very standard and Asus should have tried to bring in new exclusive features. The price is the major USP for the specs of this phablets. For $250, it is literally a decent deal.
