Renault Captur: All you need to know

Renault is all set to strike hatrik with it’s new SUV Captur which is set to launch in India in couple of months. The car maker had very successful run with Duster and Kwid in last couple of years. Renault will hit jackpot if the new SUV turns out to be just as successful like its predecessors. Let us give you a quick glimpse of what you can expect from Renault Captur SUV.

1. The India-spec SUV even looks similar to the European Captur but will be based on Duster platform (versatile M0 platform).

2. French manufacturer has been testing the Captur for Indian markets for the past few months.



3. India will be the first market where Renault will sell the Captur with a right-hand-drive layout. 

4. Renault has high degree localisation with this platform in India, which may the keep cost of this SUV competitive.

5. For India, Captur may sport the tried-and-tested powertrains – the 1.5-litre petrol and the universal 1.5-litre K9K motor – but with the motors tweaked to output more power and torque. 

6. There is no update currently for an automatic transmission however it may arrive later along with four-wheel-drive.



7. Captur will be feature loaded – It will come with full-LED headlamps flanked by LED DRLs, an option for a contrast roof, dual-tone interiors, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with media navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.

8. It will compete directly with rival Hyundai’s Creta, Tata Hexa, Mahindra XUV, Toyota Innova and Jeep’s Compass.



9. We expect prices to be in the region of Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). 

10. In terms of launch date, we expect crossover SUV to arrive in India before the end of 2017.
