Introduction
World renowned Mini hatchback is coming to Indian shore (around end of November) with a refreshing facelift. This variant was first launched in 2014 with a codename called F55 which sports UKL1 platform, which will be part of BMW 1 Series as well. This variant of the car is already on sale in European markets is being planned to be launched in India on November 19. The 5 doors versions of the Cooper hatchback variant will target those buyers who are space hungry while the 3 doors models are for the sporty & adventurous buyers. Mini does believe that most of the demand shall be for the 3 doors model of the Cooper as real Mini lover really don’t care about the no. of seats or the boot space. Quality & Build
ExteriorsThe 2014 Mini India Edition lugs overall design from former vehicle. It comes with a hexagonal grille and round headlamps however it is bit wider by 44mm, longer by 98mm and 7mm taller from its predecessor. Mini also sports large wheelbase of 28mm and feature a surprisingly spacious boot. Large number of alloy wheels options is going to make the deal even more lucrative.
As alluded earlier the façade is almost unchanged from design perspective however, the side profile now looks much larger due to amplified measurements. The rear end also captures the same design element and just the lamps are broader while the reflector has got a minor face lift and the single piece chrome exhaust tip has moved from the right side to the left side.

The 2014 Mini India edition is not very different from its European cousin and the former model as it preserves the interior layout with some increased feature options. The iconic central speedo is now dropped from this model. The interior color & dash tone is more traditional with added tinge of chrome to exhibit the posh & niche appeal for which Mini is known around the world.
Let’s dig further into the technology segment of this new Mini. While Mini carries it veteran looks & feel, from technology standpoint it’s a car of modern generation. This car is truly blessed with high head-up display, which includes navigation instructions, driving speed & the current speed limit. Car also features anti-collision properties by an embedded collision and pedestrian warning system with an automatic braking function at lower speeds.

Car also features state of art reversing camera and parking assist. The headlights are controlled by camera which automatically dip from main beam by looking oncoming traffic. Intelligent Mini indeed. Mini shall also sport an adaptive dampers to boost ride comfort and everyday usability. Two settings – Sport and Comfort will offer a sharper drive or a more relaxed ride and can be accessed at the flick of a switch.
Some standard features like isofix seats in the front and rear, keyless go and Bluetooth, a John Cooper Works spoiler, set of roof rails and contrasting mirrors etc. will be part of the included deal.

Engine
The 2014 Mini India Edition is expected to be 1.5-litre turbocharged 3- cylinder petrol engine delivering 134bhp. As stated above, this model comes with UKL frame work which means it has been coupled to a six-speed AT that powers front wheels as well.
Price
It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 30 lakh to Rs 40 lakh.
