Review: Gionee Marathon M3 - World's largest battery phone

Introduction

There seems to be a battery war in mobile space. Just about a week back Indian Phone maker Lava released its power hub phone called Fuel 50 with large 3000 mAh battery. A week later the Chinese have come with a counter phone called Gionee Marathon M3 with a massive 5000mAh battery that is expected to give 51 hours of talk time to users.

Getting to know about Gionee Marathon M3

This smartphone is expected to be announced by Chinese manufacturer soon and from insiders it shall be sold in Indian subcontinent at Rs. 13,999. Due to the massive battery this phone is going to offer 51 hours talk time on 2G networks and about 32 hours on 3G networks. For this price range, Gionee is going to uproot some established brands in this segment.

Build & Quality

The phone is really complemented well when it comes to overall specification.

Display: Marathon M3 sports a 5-inch 720p HD display with its IPS and OGS properties

Processor: The phone gets much of its power from a Quad core 1.3GHz Cortex A7 CPU

RAM: 1 GB which really syncs well with processor to ensure you have no difficulties in running high end apps

Storage: Marathon M3 comes with 8 GB inbuilt storage which is expandable upto 128 GB with external SD card

Camera: This handset bears a 8MP HD camera with impressive LED and for selfies/video chat lover, there is a 2MP front camera

OS: M3 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and we do not know at this point if it will be upgradable to Android Lollipop which is taste of the season
