Review: HTC 820s - A prelaunch insight

Introduction

HTC has come up with a successor variant of the Desire 820, called the HTC Desire 820s, however the details about its price and if it will sold out of China is still not in public domain. This is going to be the same phone but the usp this time will be the Octa-core SoC.

Getting to know about HTC 820s

As alluded about Desire 820s comes with almost similar specifications to Desire 820, apart from bearing an impressive 64-bit 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor with 4G LTE connectivity and highly efficient GPU along with a power camera. Even from design perspective it is almost identical to its predecessor.

Build & Quality

Since 820s is quite similar to its cousin, why one should be looking to buy this phone. Let’s get into its hood to understand it better.

Processor: While the old variant was powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC (1.5GHz quad-core), the new 820s comes with 64-bit 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 and Mali T760 GPU

RAM: The Octa-core MediaTek SoC is further complemented by 2GB of RAM which makes your phone applications & high end graphics run at ease

OS: It is a dual-SIM phone that runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box

Display: The 820s comes with 5.5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display with crisp & sharp color

Camera: It bears a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera which is brilliant for HD video chatting

Storage: 820s has a 16GB internal storage which is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB).

Connectivity: This phone is further fuelled with connectivity options like FM radio, Wi-Fi Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS , GPRS/ EDGE, 3G and 4G LTE.

Price: Desire 820 in India is priced at Rs. 24,990, where as the new 820s model is not out in Indian market and we think HTC will smartly price it around Rs. 27,000.

General Observation & Verdict

The HTC 820s is a phone to watch out for this fall. This is a fully loaded phone and we would expect HTC to release it with latest Android Lollipop in India to tap the market.
